Karnali banda enters sixth consecutive day

Political parties and stakeholders, who have been hitting streets demanding Karnali Autonomous Province, have boycotted the meeting called by District Administration Office (DAO) on Friday. Terming the meeting as a ploy to foil the movement, Karnali Autonomous Province Struggle Committee has boycotted it. District Administration Office, Mugu had called a meeting with the agitating parties to hold talks on their demands.

The demonstrators accused the government of calling the meeting to discourage their demand of Karnali zone as an autonomous region which began following the inclusion of some parts of Mid-western region with the Far-western region in the preliminary draft of the new constitution. Demonstrators have shut down Karnali zone for the sixth consecutive day today. Government and non-government offices, educational institutes have remained closed due to banda, affecting normal life, said coordinator of Struggle Committee and Former State Minister for Education Hasta Bahadur Malla. The leaders of the FNCCI, Mugu Chapter are staging a demonstration in support of the banda today.
