Students Bear the Brunt of Made-up Abduction

Studies of over 1000 students of Tharpu Higher Secondary School in Tharpu VDC have been affected for two days as the school remained closed after Dhan Bahadur Tawa (Limbu), 40 chairperson of the school management committee and a resident of Tharpu6 had asked the school headmaster to provide ransom saying that he was abducted by an unidentified gang on December 1.

 

As Tawa informed about his abduction to head teacher of the school Ram Laksman over phone, locals and students demanding immediate release of Tawa had staged demonstrations in the school and Tharpu bazaar on December 1. However, when they came to know that Tawa had made a drama of his abduction in order to make money by playing the game today staged demonstration demanding his resignation and action against him, head teacher Laksam said.  

 

Saying that he was in the grip of abductors and they demanded Rs. 15, 00000 for his release, Tawa told school head teacher Laksam over phone that the school has to provide the money to the abductors.

 

Police tracked Tawa's phone following call details and searched for him. Ultimately, police arrested him from Jorpokhari bazaar of Phidim-Taplejung section of the Mechi Highway on December 1.

 

It was found that Tawa had made a fictitious abduction play to make easy money from the school, said DSP Rajesh Nath Banstola, adding that action will be taken against him as per legal provision.
