Tharu Kalyankari Sabha (TKS) has held a demonstration in Kalaiya on August 30. They demanded return of the army to the barrack, formation of Tharu Commission, separate Tharu state and stopping suppression of the demonstration. The demonstration attended by hundreds began from Tharu Sadan, Kalaiya and concluded at Bharat Chok. Yadav Krishna Chaudhary of TKS said that their agitation would continue until their demands are met. Meanwhile, one Amit Berma, 25, of Kalaiya Municipality-5 has been injured when assaulted by the demonstrators. He was beaten up when he tried to take his motorcycle pass the site where the Tharus were holding corner meeting. He sustained head injuries.
