Students burn Modi's effigy in Pokhara

2015-09-29

Students affiliated to the major political parties have torched the effigy of the Indian prime minister Narendra Modi in Pokhara today. The students have also burned the Indian flag protesting against the dissatisfaction shown by India in the promulgation of the new constitution by Nepal. The demonstration was organized by Samyukta Andolan Bidyarthi Samiti Kaski before the Indian Pension camp. The protesters staged sit-in from 10:00am to 11:00am at the venue before converging into a corner meet. Speakers at the program urged India to immediately lift the blockade citing that it was against internal norms. The students also chanted slogans against the imperialistic and elder brotherly attitude shown by India.
