The agitating Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha, who have been enforcing shutdown in various Tarai districts demanding amendment in the new constitution for the past one-and-a-half month, have intensified their protest in Janakpur district prohibiting the movement of motorcycles on Monday. The Morcha that claims to have enforced the ongoing blockade in Nepal prohibited motorcycles citing they trafficked petroleum products, gas, medicine and food materials to various parts of the country including Capital. A SLMM meeting held after Dashain festival had decided to allow motorcycles putting ‘black flag’ or party flag to run. However, due to increasing smuggling from such motorcyclists, the SLMM is thinking of putting a complete halt on their operation. However, no official decision has been taken on this issue, according to Sadbhawana Party’s Dhanusa Chairman Sanjay Singh. Post Dashain, the blockade programme has been further intensified, along with continuation to their regular protests, Singh added.
