Cadres of agitating Sanghiya Samajbadi Madhesi coalition obstructed Nepali Congress’s corner meeting in Birgunj on Saturday. The coalition blamed NC of disrupting the ongoing Madhes protests on the pretext of fulfilling the demands of the Madhesi people. Nepali Congress had taken out a rally to put pressure on the government to address the Madhesi grievances which later turned into a corner meeting at Maisthan in the district. Cadres of the coalition snatched NC party flags from the cadres and torched them. A clash also ensued at the scene. NC municipal President Mohammad Sahabuddhin blamed the coalition of insulting their party by burning their party flag. “Madhesi demands cannot be addressed without the support of Nepali Congress,” he said.
