Gang of robbers arrested from Chabahil

A police squad deployed from Metropolitan Police Range Office, Teku on Sunday arrested a gang of seven looters from Chabahil of Kathmandu while they were gathered to hatch a robbery plan. The police seized an Indian made pistol and a round of bullet from them. According to the police, those arrested have been identified as 27-year-old Puakar Lohani of Bhoksing VDC of Parbat District, 30-year-old Barma Tamang of Dharan Municipality of Sunsari District, 27-year-old Syamol Tamang of Jharlang VDC of Dhading, 25-year-old Ram Sharan Nepali of Belkot VDC of Nuwakot,27-year-old  Roshan Pariyar of Belkot VDC of Nuwakot District, 27-year-old Prem Tamang of Dhulikhel Municipality of Kavre, and 27-year-old Besil Ghale Tipling VDC of Dhading District. Of the seven, Barma Tamang had already served a jail sentence of six years on the charge of being involved in the shootout of a money exchange operator in Thamel a few years back. Tamang was arrested a few weeks after the incident. Based on a tip-off, we raided the place where they had assembled with an intention to mastermind a series of loot in the valley, said Senior Superintendent of Police Bikram Singh Thapa, who is the chief of Metropolitan Police Range Office, Teku. "Since the last few months, we had been keeping a close vigil in areas susceptible to looting,” SSP Thapa said. Few other criminals are also under police scanner and will be arrested soon, he said.
