The District Court has slapped one year sentence and Rs 5000 fine to Rabindra Tamang, 29, of Sangrumba VDC-9 and Phulmaya Tamang, 30, on January 3. A division bench of District Judge Nabaraj Dahal convicted a couple of polygamy according to Chapters 9 and 10 on Marriage of General Code, Shrestedar Jagadishwor Bhattarai said. Rabindra had married Phulmaya as a second wife on August 3, 2015. Shreemaya Tamang, the first wife of Rabindra had filed a complaint at the District Police Office on September 14, 2014, demanding action against the couple. Police arrested the couple the same day.
