Police on Wednesday arrested a mentally challenged woman for allegedly killing her daughter in Pachrukhi VDC of the district on Wednesday night. According to a preliminary investigation, Sutani Devi (22) of Bairiya Chotaul VDC of Sarlahi district had killed her 18-month-old daughter Reena by slamming her head on the ground behind the Gangapipara VDC building. As soon as the local people heard the baby screaming behind the VDC building, they reached the incident site and caught Devi with her murdered daughter. Later, they handed Devi over to the Area Police Office Gangapipara. The reason behind the murder is yet to the established, Inspector Chandan Singh of the Area Police Office Gangapipara said. “Devi had left home with her daughter yesterday afternoon,” Bhikari Rai Yadav, Devi’s father said, adding, “After she did not return home till late evening, we searched high and low for her everywhere but in vain.
