Tarun Dal, YCL Clash Leaves Eight Injured

Sindhuli/October 11 Eight persons were injured after a clash ensued between the cadres of NC youth wing Tarun Dal and UCPN-M affiliated YCL at the district headquarters on October 11.

Nabaraj Devkota, driver of UCPN-M district joint in-charge Rajan Dahal, UCPN-M district committee member Abhaya Lama, Pawan Magar of NSU, central member of Nepal Tarun Dal Nabaraj Shrestha alias Aakash, NC district committee member Kanchaman Bal and NC cadre Nema Tamang were injured in the clash. Likewise, Dilip Adhikari, 56, of Kapilkot9 and Ganesh Thapa, 28, of Mahadevsthan8 sustained injuries. It is not confirmed to which the duo belong to.

Police said that Nabaraj Devkota has been taken to Kathmandu for further treatment after his treatment was not possible in the distict while Abhaya Lama and Pawan Magar were being treated at Sindhuli hospital.

UCPN cadre Ganesh Budathoki said that the clash erupted over the issue of opening a bus counter at Kalpabriksha VDC. He added that villages had retaliated after Nabaraj Shrestha of Tarun Dal terrorized the village by bringing a bus full of youths from the district headquarters.

Tarun Dal and NC cadres had attacked UCPN-M cadres and shut down the district headquarters saying that YCL cadres had attacked NC leaders and cadres at Kalpabriksha VDC on October 10.

DSP Sanuram Bhattarai informed that one shell of tear gas was fired and police resorted to lathi-charge to contain the situation. He said that policemen were mobilized in large number in the district headquarters to avoid further clash.

NC district president Mohan Baral said that police had found Nabaraj Shrestha and Kanchaman Bal in injured state from Kalpabriksha VDC. They were reported to be abducted by UCPN-M cadres.

Meanwhile, Chairperson of FNJ Sindhuli Shyam Hari Adhikari said that a group of 20 men led by UCPN-M district joint in-charge Rajan Dahal ransacked his house and threatened him.
