Drunk husband sets his wife on fire in Kanchanpur

A man under the influence of alcohol has set his wife on fire in Baisebichuwa-7, Bhimbasti of Kanchanpur district. Although the incident happened on Wednesday night, the case was reported to the police only on Sunday. The victim, Janaki Joshi, 35, was set on fire by her husband Narad Joshi, who wanted to kill her, according to the complaint filed at the District Police Officer (DPO), Kanchanpur. "Neighbors and relatives came for my rescue after I screamed," said Janaki, who is currently undergoing treatment at the Seti Zonal Hospital. She was admitted to the hospital only two days after the incident. She has received burn injuries below her hip. Doctors informed that she is out of danger. According to her, they were resting after supper, the husband started drinking. When she was preparing to sleep, the husband set her on fire, she said. The couple lives in their house with three sons, a daughter, and parents. "This is not the first case of violence between them. They had a big quarrel four months ago. The case was resolved after police mediation," informed her nephew, Krishna Raj Joshi. "We were not aware of the recent case. We took her to the hospital only after we came to know about it," he added. The husband is currently in police custody and investigation into the case is underway, informed Police Inspector Prateek Bista of Area Police Office, Tribhuwanbasti.
