The body of a girl has been found under Hulandikhola bridge in Palpa. 8-year-old Barsha Darlami, a resident of Sundar village was found dead on Monday evening. Police have suspected murder after rape. The girl's mother informed the police after her daughter did not return from school until late in the evening. Locals and police started the search immediately after. According to Inspector Ramesh Raj Bhetwal of Palpa District Police Office, there are injuries on the girl's dead body. Three suspects accused of involvement in the murder have been arrested. The girl's body has been sent to Palpa District Hospital for a postmortem examination.

Update.--Man held for ‘rape, murder’ of 8-year-old Police have arrested five people in connection with the rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl in the district. Dipak Neupane, 20, of Telgha and four others were arrested on Tuesday after the victim’s family lodged a complaint against Neupane, a drug user, for his involvement in the crime. The girl’s body was found under a bush near the Holangdi stream on the border of Tansen Municipality and Telgha, police said. A doctor involved in the postmortem confirmed that the victim was raped and subsequently murdered. The incident took place at Prabhas on Monday evening while the victim was returning home from school. The local people searched the minor as her five-year-old brother, who was on his way to home with the victim, told his father that a man dragged her into the stream and committed the crime. The victim, a resident of Lamdanda in Tansen Municipality, had been studying in grade three at Saraswati Secondary School in Prabhas about 1.5 km from her home. A security source said that Neupane admitted to his involvement in the crime during a police interrogation. Locals claimed Neupane committed the crime as the gold earrings were found in his possession.

Update---The District Court of Palpa on October 20, has ordered to sentence 18-year-old Deepak Neupane for life-long imprisonment along with confiscation of the property after finding him guilty on rape and murder of an eight years old girl, Barsha Darlami of Lamidanda, Tansen Municipality-11. A single bench of District Court judge Dilli Raman Tiwari had given a verdict on October 20. Deepak was accused of murdering an eight years old girl Barsha Darlami on April 18 after raping her.
