Large number of women and children missing in Chitwan

The District Police office, Chitwan has shared the information that 1,314 people have gone missing in the district for the past five years. Among them, 754 are women, 445 children and 115 males. Of those missing, only 415 have come in contact so far. The five-year data maintained by the Women and Children Desk under the DPO shows that 223 women, 161 children and 31 males who had gone missing were found in a year from 2068 to2 069 BS in the district. According to DPO Chitwan, chief Basanta Kunwar, such missing women and children were found trafficked for employing them as domestic workers and for human trafficking. Similarly, the DPO has informed that 210 have gone missing during 10 months of the current fiscal year and of the 70 have come in contact. Among the missing, 134 are women, 33 men, 43 children. The record also shows that 211 people had gone missing in fiscal year 068/69 BS, 313 in 069/70 BS, 348 in 2070/71 BS and 222 in 2071/072 BS.
