Shiwani Nepali was fired on her first day of office for being dalit. Hired by the manager of the hotel, Shiwani was fired by the hotel owner on the first day itself upon knowing her caste. After being hired by the manager of the hotel, Shiwani was asked to give her introduction on the first day by Ganga Lamichane,wife of the hotel owner Bhuwan Lamichane. After knowing her caste, Ganga placed three condition for her to work in the hotel. Shiwani wouldn't be allowed to enter in the kitchen, would have to eat separately and wash her dishes herself. On protesting such demeaning conditions, Shiwani was made to leave the job. Shiwani's grandfather Dambar Bahadur Nepali mentioned his grievances that police hesitated to register complaint under caste discrimination offense.
