[Updated] Two persons manhandled the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority Chief Lok Man Singh Karki by smearing his face with black soot while he was at the Court for the hearing. Police have arrested the duo, who have been identified as cadres of some Maoist party, while they tried to exit the court premises. Sources said they had chanted slogans mentioning “CPN Maoist” while they were arrested. Karki had reached the apex court today to attend the hearing on a case filed against his appointment at the anti-corruption constitutional body. KATHMANDU, Jan 9: The Supreme Court on Monday slapped one month's jail term each to the persons who had smeared soot on Lokman Singh Karki, while he had come to the SC to serve his date. A division bench of Justices Dr Anand Mohan Bhattarai and Anil Kumar Sinha issued the order that Prakash Shahi and Chandra Bahadur Budha be sentenced to one month in prison for smearing soot on Karki's face at SC premises on December 22. Both of them were held by the police after the incident. A case of contempt of court had been filed against the duo. RSS
