Bagmati, Kathmandu, Kathmandu

Nepal Students Union (NSU), Kathmandu Chapter, has padlocked offices of the campus chiefs in the Kathmandu Valley, protesting the Tribhuvan University’s decision on fixing the age limit for candidates in the elections of the Free Students Unions. A team led by the Chapter Chair Manoj Baidya reached various campuses including the Pashupati, the Saraswati, the Public Youth, the Tri Chandra, the Patan, the Shankar Dev and the Nepal Commerce to padlock the offices of the campus chiefs. Chairman Baidya questioned, “Can’t the people above 28 years be students?” He vented his ire against the University why it was ignoring the aspirations of a large number of students. “We will emerge more rebellious if this decision is not removed,” he warned. It may be noted that the students above 28 years are barred from filing candidacy for the elections as per a recent TU decision.
