Over 100 Valley schools padlocked over exorbitant fees

A group of student unions on Wednesday locked down more than 100 schools, mostly private enterprises, saying that those schools were fleecing parents by charging exorbitant fees for the students. Cadres of the Nepal Students Union, ANNFSU, ANNFSU-Revolutionary, among others student unions, reached Rato Bangala School, Gems School, Ullens School, Nightingale School in Lalitpur and Takshashila School, Dafodil School in Kathmandu and locked the accounts and administration sections of those schools, according to ANNFSU Secretary General Ain Mahar. Mahar said that the schools were locked as they continued to charge exorbitantly in violation of the standard fee determined by the government and failing to return the excess amount to parents. Also padlocked were VS Niketan, Occidental School and Little Angels School. The action was carried out to ensure that the teaching-learning activities would be conducted adversely affected, explained Mahar. PABSON Secretary General Rajendra Baniya confirmed that the student unions had padlocked the schools. He said they had been holding talks to find a solution but the cadres of the student unions barged into the schools and padlocked them abruptly. The student unions have been protesting against the fee hike since last Tuesday. नियम विपरित बढाएको शुल्क फिर्ता नलिएको भन्दै संयुक्त विद्यार्थी संगठनले बुधबार काठमाडौैंका ५३ वटा विद्यालयका लेखा र प्रशासन शाखामा तालावन्दी गरेका छन् । सरकारले तोकेको भन्दा धेरै शुल्क लिएको र सर्वोच्च अदालतको आदेश विपरित शुल्क बढाएको भन्दै सबै ठूला दल निकट विद्यार्थी एकजुट भएर तालाबन्दी गरेका हुन् । उनीहरुले मंगलबार जिल्ला शिक्षा कार्यालय घेराउ गरेका थिए । लेखा र प्रशासनमा तालाबन्दी गरेपनि पठनपाठन भने नरोकिने अखिल क्रान्तिकारीका उपाध्यक्ष रञ्जित तामाङले जानकारी दिनुभयो अनेरास्ववियुका सचिव आरसी लामिछानेले विद्यार्थी संगठनले निम्न विद्यालयमा तालाबन्दी गरिएको भन्दै फेसबुकमार्फत जानकारी दिनुभएको छ ।
