A woman candidate was assaulted by her husband in Kaski on Wednesday night after she refused to withdraw her candidacy for the local level elections. Padma Khadka Gurung, a ward member candidate for the CPN (Maoist Centre) in Rupa Village Council-5, was beaten by Yam Bahadur Gurung for refusing to withdraw her candidacy. Seriously hurt Padma is receiving treatment at the Fewa City Hospital in Pokhara. Padma’s brother-in-law Tek Bahadur Gurung is the ward chairman candidate from the CPN-UML. The victim claimed that she was thrashed at the behest of her brother-in-law.
