The cadres of Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN Maoist reportedly detained Ram Kumar Upreti, who is a ward chairman candidate from the ruling CPN Maoist Centre in Manahari Rural Municipality-1, from Handikhola on Saturday morning. After receiving the information about the incident, the Makawanpur District Police Office sent a team of security personnel to Manahari to rescue Upreti. The Chand-led Maoist outfit said it took Upreti in its control to protest the arrest of and mental torture on its cadres and sympathisers in the district by police. मनहरि गाउँपालिका—१ हाँडीखोलाका माओवादी केन्द्रका वडाध्यक्ष उम्मेदवार रामकुमार उप्रेती विप्लव नेतृत्वको नेकपाका कार्यकर्ताले नियन्त्रणमा लिएको छन् । उप्रेतीको परिवार र गाउँलेका अनुसार उप्रेतीलाई नेकपाले शनिबार बिहानै नियन्त्रणमा लिएको हो । जिल्ला प्रहरी कार्यालय हेटौंडाले उम्मेदवार अपहरणमा परेको जानकारी दिँदै प्रहरी निरीक्षक मधु थापाको टोली घटनास्थलमा पुगेको बताएको छ । आफ्ना विभिन्न सङ्गठनमा आबद्ध व्यक्तिलाई कुनै अपराधजन्य क्रियाकलाप नगरे पनि प्रहरी प्रशासनले नियन्त्रणमा लिएको जनाउँदै नेकपाले उम्मेदवार उप्रेतीलाई नियन्त्रणमा लिएको जनाएको छ ।
