FNJ denounces attack on journalist

The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), Kalikot chapter has condemned the attack on a journalist Arjun Prasad Bhattarai quoting RSS source. A statement issued today by President of the FNJ Kalikot branch Tularam Pandey also demanded treatment for the injured, and action against the assailants. A clash ensued over a dispute and a group of three youths attacked Bhattarai while playing a carrom in the district headquarters Manma on Friday evening, the police said. Similarly, various organisations related to the press have demanded action against the attackers. Bhattarai, a central council member of the FNJ and Chairperson of the Press Centre Kalikot, who sustained head injuries, has been referred to Kohalpur Medical College, the family said. A search has been launched for the assailants, the police said. नेपाल पत्रकार महासङ्घ कालीकोटले महासङ्घका केन्द्रीय पार्षद् तथा प्रेस सेन्टर कालीकोटका अध्यक्ष अर्जुनप्रसाद भट्टराई माथि भएको आक्रमणको निन्दा गरेको राससले जनाएको छ । नेपाल पत्रकार महासङ्घ कालीकोटका अध्यक्ष तुलाराम पाण्डेद्वारा हस्ताक्षरित विज्ञप्तिमा घाइते पत्रकारको उपचार तथा दोषीउपर कारबाहीका लागि सरकारसँग माग गरिएको छ । त्यसैगरी विभिन्न सङ्घ सङ्गठनले पनि घटनामा संलग्न दोषीउपर कारबाहीका लागि स्थानीय प्रहरी प्रशासनसँग माग गरेका छन् । असोज २० गते साँझ भएको आक्रमणमा घाइते पत्रकार अर्जुनप्रसाद भट्टराईको उपचार जिल्ला अस्पताल कालीकोटमा हुन नसेकेपछि थप उपचारका लागि कोहलपुर मेडिकल कलेजमा भर्ना गरिएको छ । पत्रकार भट्टराईको टाउकोमा गम्भीर चोट लागेको छ भने पिसाबबाट समेत रगत बगेको र अहिले उनको अवस्था खतरामुक्त रहेको बताइएको छ ।
