Kalikot/July 24 Tek Bahadur Rawat, 32, of Birendranagar Municipality-6 in Surkhet and working as a taxi driver has been injured when beaten up by a police team led by District Police Office chief Inspector Rajendra Aryal on July 24. Rawat lost consciousness after being beaten by police with baton and butt of guns on chest and abdomen. He was accused of using foul words to a police patrol team in drunken state at Zeropoint in Manma VDC while traveling on Karnali Highway. His condition remains critical and is being treated at District Hospital, Kalikot. Inspector Aryal claimed that there was only minor scuffle and added that the policemen, who attacked Rawat despite his effort to stop them, would be investigated.
