Five Charged with Caste Discrimination

Doti/August 5 The District Police Office Doti has registered a case of caste-based discrimination and untouchability against five persons on July 29. Those accused are Mahadev Bogati, 32, Man Bahadur Bogati, 33, Gore Bahadur Bogati, 36, Dhan Bahadur Bogati, 34, and Padam Bogati, 30, of of Bhalma in Daud VDC-3. The accused had beaten up Shyam Kami, 33, of same village on July 25 accusing him of touching them when Kami had gone to buy goods at the shop belonging to one Trimal Bogati. Clothes of Kami were torn and he sustained injuries to his forehead and back in the beating. Eyewitness Khadka Kami said that the accused told Shyam not to come to the shop and also made him hold his ear as punishment. Investigation Officer Parshuram Chaudhary at the DPO said that Dhan Bahadur and Padam were absconding while the other three have been arrested and charged with the case. The victim underwent treatment at the District Public Health Office.
