Investigation Begins in Adhikari Killing

Chitwan/August 19 The District Police Office Chitwan has begun investigation into the killing of Krishna Prasad Adhikari of Phujel VDC-7 of Gorkha. SP Pradhyumna Karki of the DPO said that the District Attorney's Office consultation into the case was also part of the investigation. The DP had sought legal advice from the District Attorney's (DA) Office on August 10 following a letter from the Police Headquarters directing the DPO to proceed with the investigation of the murder. The DPO had written again to the DA's Office on August 11 saying that it had not provided clear advice on the issue. The DA Ek Narayan Lamsal said that he replied the DPO suggesting the DAO to go ahead with the investigation process as directed by the NHRC. SP Karki said that police had initiated investigation to find the facts based on that reply. Krishna was killed by the Maoists when he had come to visit his grandmother in Chitwan on June 6, 2004. Family of Krishna had filed a complaint at the DAO Chitwan after his murder. Meanwhile, one of the accused in the incident Parshu Ram Paudel said that he and his father Chhabi Lal and other innocent persons had been falsely charged in the incident. They said that the accusation had tarnished their self-respect.
