Jhapa/ August 26 Police have registered a case of gang-rape against three persons after extending their remand at the District Court on August 25. A 25-year-old girl was gang-raped allegedly by Pradeep Rai, 23; Santosh Mallik, 17, of Mechi Nagar Municipality-11 and Ugen Bhujel, 19, and Bhakti Rai, 22 of ward no. 10 on the night of August 23 in Tokla Tea State at no 13. The victim said that the accused chased away her friend prior to raping her. Three of the accused except Bhakti were immediately arrested by the police after the victim lodged the complaint at Area Police Office Kakadbhitta the same day, said DSP Basanta Rajauriya. Search for the absconding Rau is underway, DSP Rajauriya added. The victim received health checkup at Mechi Zonal Hospital, Bhadrapur on August 25.
