Morang/August 24 Bikas Rai, 24, and Silas Karki, 21, of Keraun VDC-1 have been beaten up in custody by the police of Pathari Area Police Office on August 23 on charge of wearing long hair. Bikas said that they had gone to the Pathari APO to discuss about an incident where a man had died during a football match in Bayarban VDC. He added that during the discussion, the policemen took them inside a room and beat them with boot and tyre while commenting on their long hair. They were treated at a clinic in Pathari. A witness of the incident, Tanka Adhikari of Keraun VDC-1 said the Bikas was telling the policemen that he had an oath of not cutting the hair for the whole year, however the police kept beating them. APO chief Rajan Karki said that the police would launch investigation as they had received verbal complaint regarding the case.
