A writ petition has been filed at the Supreme Court on September 1 demanding government intervention to save the lives of Nanda Ram and Ganga Maya Adhikari.
They are on strike demanding legal action against the killers of the younger son, Krishna Adhikari.
The petition was filed by Ramraj Shiwakoti demanding for interfere positively the strike and ensuring that they are taking nutritious and balanced diet.
Though the Bir Hospital, where the Adhikaris were admitted in the initation of the police, has reported that their health situation was getting critical but the government, state agencies and constitutional agencies were just giving lip service.
NHRC is doing nothing more than recommending, Offices of the PM and Council of Ministers and Home Minister think their instruction is sufficient to fulfill their duty but there is no seriousness towards implementation of the instruction.
Younger son of the couple, Krishna Prasad Adhikari was killed, allegedly by the Maoists on June 6, 2004 in Chitwan. The Adhikaris are on strike since February 4.
