Violence marks banda, ‘bomb’ injures child in Capital

KATHMANDU, NOV 13 - On a day that saw the 10-day banda fizzling out, a four-year-old child was injured when banda supporters hurled a ‘petrol bomb’ at a moving bus at Kumaripati in Lalitpur on Tuesday. The bomb targeted at a Ratnapark-bound micro bus hit four-year-old Ashish Lama of Lubhu, Lalitpur, who was travelling in the vehicle. Police took the child to Alka Hospital with minor injuries on his face. He was discharged after treatment. In another incident, a Kathmandu-bound bus was set ablaze in Kabilas-1 along the Narayanghat-Munglin road early on Tuesday. Forty-two people, including children, were travelling in the bus when unidentified persons hurled a burning piece of cloth on it. While the passengers managed to get out of the burning bus safely, they could not save their belongings. Another vehicle with passengers on board was targeted in Chabahil in Kathmandu. A passenger who sustained injuries returned home after treatment in a hospital, police said. Also, five taxis and a tempo were vandalised in Kathmandu.
