A person was beaten to death by an unidentified group here on Thursday night. The victim has been identified as Ganga Kumal of 30-32 years of age of Sunwal-1, west Nawalparasi.
Though police rescued him alive and took him to the District Hospital Parasi, he was pronounced dead the same night. He had sustained deep cuts to his head. Another Ram Kunwar of 16-17 years of age of the same locality was injured in the attack. He has already returned home following treatment at the Bharatpur-based College of Medical Sciences, Chitwan, said District Police Office, Nawalparasi chief superintendent of police Rajendra Prasad Bhatta.
The incident happened at Gaindakhal of Sunwal municipality-10. Before the attack, some youths who are yet to be identified had been reported to have engaged in a debate.
A piece of wood and a bamboo flatstick were used to strike the two. Following the incident, police arrested nine suspects and six were later released after interrogations.Additional five have been arrested and a total of eight are currently under investigations.
