A woman in Bhanu Municipality of Tanahun has been arrested on the charge of killing her newborn.

Laxmi Gandarva, 37, of Dordor in Bhanu Municipality-3, has been accused of killing her child. Locals on Tuesday informed police about a newborn tied with a woman's Suruwal around his neck in a field in Chandithok Tuesday. After investigation, police found out that Laxmi Gandarva of Dordor had killed her newborn immediately after giving birth.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Siddhi Bikram Shah of DPO, Tanahun informed that the mother has already admitted to killing her baby and throwing the body in a field. According to police, Gadarva's husband is in foreign land since the past four years. She has stated that she had to kill the child as it was born out of illicit relation.
Police have intensified search for the man who impregnated her.
