Four persons have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the murder of radio journalist Manohar Dhakal in Hetauda. The arrest comes 10 days after the incident occurred.
Police said that they have arrested two persons in connection to the murder of Dhakal and two were rounded up for purchasing the belongings of the deceased.
Dhakal was found dead at Bhairabdanda in Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-1 on January 9.
The suspects were made public amid a press conference at the District Police Office, Makwanpur, on Saturday.
According to police, Anmol Pudasaini, 19, of Hetauda-11 and Prabin Waiba, 18, of Manahari Rural Municipality-1 had murdered him by pushing him off a cliff.
“The two were using drugs in the jungle when Dhakal abruptly reached there. The duo attacked and murdered him while he was convincing them to not use drugs,” DSP Yagya Prasad Bhattarai of the District Police Office, Makwanpur, said.
He said that Pudasaini and Waiba decamped with a gold ring, a mobile phone, a hard disk and Rs 500 in cash from Dhakal after the incident. Police said that they managed to nab them after they sold the stolen gold ring and mobile phone.
Police have arrested Dinesh Thapa Magar, 31, Bhimphedi Rural Municipality-6, owner of Dinesh Mobile and Electric Centre, and Narayan Bahadur Sunar, 48, owner of Narayani Jewellery Shop, for buying stolen things.
Police said that they have confiscated the gold ring, mobile phone, hard disk and data cable from the duo’s procession.
