A 14-year-old boy was allegedly murdered by his friend at Lakeside of Pokhara Metropolitan City last night. 

A resident of Palpa’s Rambapani Rural Municipality, Sachin Sinjali, living in a rented room at Lakeside with his mother Sunita, was murdered by slitting his throat with a sharp weapon.

Kumar Garbuja, 21 of Parbat living in the rented room at Lakeside had killed Sachin, said Kaski District Police Office. Police made Kumar public after he was arrested today.

Sachin’s body was found in an under-construction house near his rented room. Kumar had called the police saying he had found Sachin’s body.

Superintendent of Police Om Rana said police arrested Kumar after it was found that Sachin and Kumar were friends and used to spend time together. During interrogation, Kumar admitted to killing Sachin by slitting his throat with a sharp knife, said police.

According to the police, Kumar was a street kid. Sachin used to spend time with Kumar and other street children Sushant Pariyar and Sunita Gurung.

Police investigation showed that Kumar, Sachin, Sushant and Sunita had drunk alcohol at a hotel in Lakeside yesterday afternoon. They had left the hotel at 7:00 pm, wandered around for two hours and entered the under-construction house at 9:00 pm, police investigation showed. They had sniffed dendrite. When Sachin proposed to marry Sunita, Kumar lost his temper.

Kumar told police that he was in love with Sunita. “When Sachin proposed to Sunita, I lost my temper,” Kumar told the police.

After Sunita went to sleep at around 10:00 pm, a dispute had broken out between Kumar and Sachin. Then Sachin hit Kumar with a knife on his leg, Kumar snatched the knife and slit Sachin’s throat and stabbed him in his abdomen and back with the weapon.

After the incident, Kumar had fled the scene. Kumar reached the incident site this morning and called police, saying that Sachin was murdered.

A murder case has been filed against Kumar, said SP Rana. Kumar has been kept in the custody of District Police Office, Kaski. Sachin’s mother Sunita works at a spa centre at Lakeside. Her husband has been living separately for the past 12 years.
