Bhumi Khandel, 42, a resident at Amuwa of Baghmare2 has been killed by an unidentified gang attacking her with a sharp weapon on January 26.

Family members started searching after Bhumi, who had gone to collect fodder in a nearby forest, did not return home late in the night. They found her mutilated dead body at Dharapani Community Forest located in same VDC, the Khilatpur Area Police Office (APO) said.

The doko, a bamboo container Bhumi had taken with her was filled with fodder and her slippers were found some 100 meters from the dead body, police said.

The motive and gang involved in the murder are yet to be established, the Khilatpur APO said, adding that the body has been taken to Tulsipur based Rapti Zonal Hospital for post-mortem.
