Bardiya / February 2

An unidentified gang has detonated a bomb at KP Store belonging to Kul Prasad Kandel, 35 at Radha Krishna Chowk of GulariyaN.P.8 on February 1.

The explosion caused minor damage to the counter and property worth Rs. 35,000 was damaged in the blast, proprietor Kandel said, adding that no human casualty occurred as the bomb went off during night.

"It was found from the observation of the incident site that the bomb was kept inside a plastic bag and vegetable items were placed at the upper part of the bag. We thought that a customer had forgotten to take the vegetable to home and closed the shop thinking that the customer will come later to collect his vegetable," Kandel said.

Karnabir, in-charge of Samyukta Madhesi Mukti Morcha has owned up the blast. He informed local journalists over phone that the bomb was planted in the shop as Kandel did not provide financial support to the party.

District police office said that investigation of the incident was underway.

Meanwhile, the Bardiya Chamber of Commerce and Industries protesting the incident and demanding security staged demonstrations by enforcing Gulariya bandh today.
