Tribhuvan University Committee of the Nepal Student's Union has launched a signature campaign demanding the appointment of vice-chancellor of the university on the basis of open competition.
As the office of Vice-Chancellor Tirtha Khaniya and his tenure are coming to an end this month, the government has now formed a search committee for the appointment of the office-bearers of the university.
NSU coordinator of the campaign Shyam Raj Ojha said that the person should be appointed on the basis of the contribution made to the university, the forthcoming action plan, and expertise while appointing the vice-chancellor, rector and registrar of the university.
He said that they have started compiling the signature to pressurize to select the leadership of the university, who is capable, competent, capable and highly knowledgeable, through an open and transparent process.
