Samajwadi Party, Parsa leader Ajay Chaurasiya has been arrested after his cadres brawled with the mayor of Birgunj Metropolitan City, Bijay Kumar Sarawagi today.
Mayor Sarawagi had reached Nepal Rashtriya Vidyapeeth Secondary School, Shreepur today to inaugurate the CCTV camera installed in the school.
During the inspection of the under-construction provincial library on the premises of the school, the locals were enraged as the mayor said that the plan of the chief minister was to cater to his party cadres.
Further, the dispute erupted between the mayor and local leader Ajay Chaurasiya of Shreepur, Birgunj-11 as the mayor went on telling that the chief minister Lalbabu Raut-led provincial government’s investment of Rs 5 million in the under-construction library was like pouring water into sand.
According to police in Parsa, the dispute between the mayor and leader turned into a brawl. Police said cadres from both sides argued and the tension ran high as the mayor jostled Chaurasiya.
A team of security personnel deployed from Ward Police Office, Shreepur under the command of Inspector Chakra Bahadur Malla took control of the leader and handed over to the DPO.
Chaurasiya is the district member of Samajwadi Party. He was a candidate in the local level election from Madhesi Janadhikar Forum. It has been reported that leader Chaurasiya, who is closely associated with Province 2 Chief Minister Lalbabu Raut is the president of the consumers’ committee formed to build the library in the school.
