Police on Monday raided a store of arms and ammunition belonging to the Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’-led Maoist party in Arjundhara-1 of Jhapa district. The government has banned activities of the party citing its activities promoted violence and terrorism.
During the raid, personnel deployed from the District Police Office and Anarmani Area Police Office confiscated 205 packets of a high explosive substance. DSP Mohan Kumar Thapa says the banned party’s Jhapa secretary Praveen Mishra aka Manish, in-charge Suman Singh Paudel, ‘people’s government’ chief Tika Pokharel and other leaders stored the arms there. They were arrested around two weeks ago. In some recent operations, police had confiscated some important documents of the party.
In the past few months, the party was found to be involved in three explosion cases in the districts.
