They were arrested on charge of taking ransom after abducting Debendra Sharma, 37, of Gharbari tol in Nepalgunj Municipality-2. Police had arrested Dhruba Kumar Chaudhari Kurmi, of Betahani VDC-1, Noor Ahmad Darji of Holiya VDC-1 and Bedram Pasi of Holiya VDC-7 on November 30. The District Police Office claimed that the arrestees are active members of underground outfit Tarai Janatantrik Party Madhes. They were arrested immediately after arrested of Banke-Bardiya coordinator of the group Sikandar Khan. DSP Prem Bahadur Basnet of the District Police Office said that search for the three were intensified after ransom was paid for Sharma's release. They have been charged under abduction and taking hostage. Sharma was released seven days later after his abduction on September 9. He was released from Nanpara in India after paying a ransom of rupees 700,000.
