Dil Bahadur Kami of Bhageshwor Rural Municipality-1 filed a complaint of caste-based discrimination against Prakash Singh Jora and his wife Sita Devi Jora of the same municipality. Police have arrested both the accused on November 20 and the police have filed a case per Crimes and Punishment Act for caste-based discrimination and untouchability. The accused, on October 30, had verbally assaulted Dil Bahadur and his wife with ethnic slurs. On top of that, Sita had assaulted Dil Bahadur's wife. Dil Bahadur's wife was taken to India for treatment after it became difficult to treat her in Dhangadi.
After they returned to the village from treatment, the local Dalit and non-Dalit leader of the village suggested Jora couple to apologize to the victims but Jora couple had threatened the victim. Therefore, the victims resorted to filing a complaint, the officials at Dadheldhura Police Office said.
