Boy Beaten up by Police

Kaski,Praharidwara balaklaai kutpit. Sujan Nepali, 12, of Chhinedanda in Pokhara Sub-metropolis-18 has been beaten up by the police of Ward Police Office Rambazar. Mother of the victim Ashmi Nepali said on December 23 that police apprehended Sujan on December 18 while he was keeping warm in a bonfire at Shivalaya tol along with five others. Saying that the boy has shown psychological problems due to police torture, Ashmi demanded action against the culprit policeman. According to the victim, police arrested him and beat him in thigh, ear and neck when the boys ran away seeing the police van. His grandfather Balaram BK said that the police released him the next day. The injured boy was treated at Western Regional Hospital. A team of human rights defenders met the victim on December 23. The victim sustained bruises in leg, ear, nect and cheek. Meanwhile, Inspector Rabindra Gurung of the Ward Police Office Rambazaar said that the police had used 'minor force' while apprehending the boys. He denied beating up the victim. Saying that the incident was being investigated, he assured of actions against if any policemen was found guilty.
