Police have arrested Nabaraj Bhandari, 28, of Judibela VDC-2 on January 3 on charge of inflicting sexual and physical torture on his wife Sushma Karki. Bhandari, who got married to Karki on February 2013, was reportedly torturing her since the second day of the marriage but Karki decided to go to police after being badly beaten on January 1, she said. DSP Prakash Ranabhat of Chandranigahpur Area Police Office said that the case had been filed under Public Offence Act and that he was arrested and his custody term extended on January 3. Karki was treated at Chandranigahpur Hospital, DSP Ranabhat said adding she was being kept at Women and Children Service Centre for her security.
