The district court of Siraha has ordered one year imprisonment and 5,000 rupees fine to Bhim Kumar Tamang, 24, and Ranjita Tamang, 21, of Bishnupur Katti VDC-8 convicting them of polygamy. The single bench of District Court Judge Uddav Prasad Bhattarai gave the decision on January 13, said Dr Gopi Chandra Bhattarai, government attorney in Siraha. Srijana Tamang, 21, had lodged a complaint against her husband Bhim Kumar Tamang for polygamy at district police office of Lahan. Both the accused were arrested by the police on May 23 and were released on bail amount of 10,000 each by the district court of Siraha on June 16.
