Mahottari,Police firing ma ek ko mrityu. An assailant who fired on a police patrolling team has been killed in retaliatory firing, according to SP Ram Prasad Shrestha of the District Police Office. Identity of the deceased who appears to be in his mid-20s is yet to be ascertained. A group of around ten assailants had opened fire on police team in the morning of February 6 at Sonama VDC-5, police said. The other assailants fled the scene following his death. Police recovered a pistol from him. SP Shrestha informed that seven rounds of bullets were fired from the police side in the incident. Eye witness said that the deceased sustained bullets in his chest, abdomen. One person was killed earlier in police firing in the Halkhori VDC near the Indian border on February 2.
