Kavre,balatkaar prayas garnelaai chaar barsh kaid sajay. Gautam Rai, 24, of Dandagaun in Mahadevsthan VDC-1 has been sentenced to four years in prison by the District Court of Kavre on February 21. Convicted of the charge of attempting to rape a 13-year-old Dalit girl, Rai was sentenced by the single bench of lawyer Ishwar Raj Acharya. The victim’s family had lodged a complaint at the local police station on November 6 accusing him of attempting to rape the girl in an inebriated state after entering home in the pretext of drinking water. Police arrested Rai the next day. The victim had a medical checkup on November 7 at Dhulikhel Hospital. Rai was presented at the Court on November 26 and was sent in jail on remand on December 1. B
