Man accused of caste based discrimination in Solukhumbhu

16-year-old Deepak Bishwokarma of Solududhkunda Municipality-9 has accused 27-year-old Shyam Thapa Magar of manhandling and discriminating against him based on the caste system on June 13. 

The victim told the INSEC representative that the accused beat him why he, a man from lower-caste, touched his new house's door. The victim's father Nir Bahadur Bishwakarma said that his son sustained injuries on his forehead and back and underwent treatment at the Mission Hospital in Okhaldhunga on June 15. 

Nir Bahadur Bishwakarma told the INSEC representative, "You are a lower caste person. No matter where you go, the law does not apply. Instead, settle for Rs 20,300 for medical expenses and travel expenses." The victim's father told the INSEC representative that they made an agreement reaching to the police post on June 15 under the pressure of the accused. 

DSP Tekunanda Eva Limbu of the District Police Office said that the victims came to the police without any complaint and the news came in the media that the police did not take any complaint of caste discrimination is false. 

Eyewitness Dipendra Ranamagar told the INSEC representative over a phone call that the accused had attacked Deepak with a fist and a hammer.
