The youths and women associated with the Janata Samajbadi Party have burnt the effigy of Prime Minister KP Oli at Janakpur on Monday at Janakpur, saying that the bill is discriminatory. The parliamentary committee had passed a draft proposal of the new citizenship bill to grant naturalized citizenship to a foreign woman marrying a Nepali citizen after seven years.
The protestors alleged that the government planned to affect the cultural relation with India by passing the bill.
