Human rights activist and coordinator of Advocacy Forum Baglung, Ram Sharma of Baglung Municipality-1, has filed a petition at the Baglung High Court Bar Association alleging insecurity after being threatened by construction entrepreneur Biplav Hamal and the Chairman of Jaljala Rural municipality Ram Krishna Malla. Sharma said that Hamal and Malla repeatedly threatened him over the phone to stop writing and speaking. Following Sharma's plea, the High Court Bar Association issued a press release on July 29. The joint statement signed by Bar President Hari Prasad Sharma and Secretary Sarita KC mentioned that any threat to the dignity and security of a legal practitioner would not be tolerated.
A meeting chaired by Bar Chairman Hari Prasad Sharma decided to stop such activities, including drawing attention to the threats made to human rights activist Sharma when he raised his voice on the exploitation of Dohan river illegally.
