A woman was killed while her husband was seriously injured in an attack by an unidentified group at Bhagatpur in ward no. 7 of Belauri municipality in Chanchanpur district on Friday night.
Belu Khati,55, died after being attacked by a sharp weapon while her husband Ghanashyam,63, sustained critical injuries, according to the District Police Office, Kanchanpur.
The incident seems to have taken at around midnight. Ghanashyam has been taken to Dhangadi for treatment, said DSP Amar Bahadur Thapa.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident. Meanwhile, the couple’s son Rajesh and local resident Dinesh Rana have been taken into custody for necessary interrogation.

Police have arrested the son of the deceased woman Rajesh Khati and his friend Dinesh Rana on the charge of being involved in the armed attack in which the woman lost her life and her husband sustained serious injury. Police are further investigating the incident.
