Five persons of a Musahar family in Budhiganga Rural Municipality-2 of Morang have been seriously injured after being attacked with sword, spear and rods by hired goons. Local Baijanath Yadav hired 20 goons from Biratnagar and ordered them to attack Saraswati Rishidev's family regarding a dispute about managing water pipeline in their area. Saraswati's family had run into a dispute with Yadav after they requested Yadav to fill the moat dug by him on the road to channel water to his house. The dispute was resolved through the meeting of the village council, Yadav however, held grudge saying that lower Musahars had humiliated him. 50-year-old Saraswati, her brother 40-year-old Pannalal, 38-year-old Ramji and 33-year-old Shyam sustained a serious injury in the attack by the hired goons.
According to local Saraswati Magar, an eyewitness, the police was informed when they saw a crowd of new people in Baijanath's house in the evening. However, the police did not even show interest in questioning Baijnath t. A team from the Nimuwa Area Police Office, which reached the spot after the attack, did not even help to take the injured to the hospital. The injured remained at home all night. Locals said that the injured could not be rushed to the hospital due to non-cooperation of the police. Meanwhile, Saraswati's daughter Urmila Rishidev, 24, who was broken from the attack on her family committed suicide.
