Sudurpashchim, Kanchanpur, Bhimdatta
Pradip Sunar and Lalita Bohara of Bhimdatta Municipality, Ward No. 13, Pipraiya of Kanchanpur are in a love affair for the past five years. They both wanted to marry each other when they reached of legal age for marriage. Due to the conservative thinking of Nepali society, people on the girl's side were in favor of marrying her to a guy of the same caste 18 months ago who was not yet of the legal age of marriage. After finding out about that, the girl Lalita was in favor of running away with Pradip Sunar. Due to family pressure and social considerations, the boy's side was not in favor of the boy. Lalita Bohara ran away on August 11 to the boy's house and stayed there for a few days but the girl's side surrounded the house in a movie-style and took her away again. As they were both minors in Rahowar, it was decided to hand them over to their guardians.
According to the statement of the girl, she was harassed time and again by her father. According to CPN (Maoist) district committee chairperson Raghubir Dhami (Tufan) and another unidentified person, the father of the girl Lalita Bohara took the responsibility and threatened to kill CPN (Maoist) district member Raghubir Dhami and another boy to kill them if they married off his daughter. Yesterday, the girl's side came to the final conclusion that she had 5 months left to reach the age of 20 and she will not be tortured in her mother's house. Despite giving the family away, the police have detained both the boy and girl for one night. The girl swore to marry Pradip when she reaches legal age and if her family opposed and pressurizes her, she even threatened to commit suicide. Disappointed by the girl's statement, the girl's family is trying to falsely accuse the boy of child marriage.
