25-year-old Shravan Mukhiya of Jamuni Madhepura in Saptari Bishnupur Ruarl Municipality-1, who came home two weeks ago from Malaysia, was killed by his 28-year-old friend Surendra Yadav on last Saturday night, October 17.
In front of the Panchayat Committee, Yadav admitted that he took Mukhiya to India and while returning he beat him to death during a dispute over taking Mukhiya’s mobile phone. He stated that he dumped the body in the river Khadak at Aurhi in Dakneshwari Municipality-6, Mahottari.
Police are yet to recover Mukhiya's body although they have been searching for it for the last three days. After that, the police also conducted a search by calling a team of divers for the search but they could not find it as the river is very deep.
Mukhiya was killed before meeting his family after returning from Malaysia. He could not even meet his wife Ambika Devi and 3-year-old daughter. His father Manorath Mukhiya said that he intended to take go to receive his wife after his arrival but as soon as he came home, he took Rs. 60,000 and went with Surendra. District Police Chief SP Dhamala said that nothing could be said until the body is found.
